BIBLE:

Memory Verse:

I created a Bible Verse printable for the next two weeks.

On Monday, Parker traced his Bible verse while listening to the Sing the Word track.

On Tuesday, we cut his tracer apart and he glued it together in his Bible notebook.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Coat of Arms:

I found a Coat of Arms activity from Scholastic. I was surprised to see how excited everyone was about this activity.

The kids colored their shields while I read from our Time Traveler book.

They turned out really cool! Since we were learning about knight’s armor, I brought out God’s Armor for Me.

Parker read God’s Armor for Me during breakfast.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Grammar Grab Bag:

I created a Fall on the Farm Grammar Grab Bag (GGB) for this week’s language arts activities.

Spelling:

On Monday, we cut apart Parker’s spelling cards (in the GGB) and he used them to practice writing his words.

On Tuesday, Parker used his word cards to complete his spelling sentences.

Vowel Digraphs:

I cut out the boy’s Fall Vowel Digraph cards (in the GGB) and they took turns using Jordan’s 4th grade sorting mats.

I called out each word and they pointed to the vowel digraph mat.  If they guessed it correctly, I gave them the card.

Later, Parker worked on his Fall Vowel Digraph worksheets (in the GGB).  He sliced each word on the syllable and colored in the vowel that did the talking.

Series:

Parker and I reviewed what a series is and how we use commas between each item.

Afterwards, I handed Parker his worksheet and he completed it.

Aesop’s Fables:

I remember doing an activity like this when Haley was in second grade.

I set out our gems, a glass with low water, and our pet meadowlark.

The boys dropped gems into the glass until the water level rose high enough for the bird to get a drink, just like in the story.

This was a really simple activity that the boys LOVED!

It’s funny how this little activity brought so much joy to our homeschooling day.

MATH:

Circus Math:

I created a Circus Math printable for the kids to work on.

The kids worked through their stack of cards, earning money and spending money until they filled out all the coin slots on their Big Top Counting Mats.

Everyone had a blast working trying to earn enough money for a circus ticket.

Even big sister joined us on this activity and she LOVED it!  She was the first to earn a circus ticket.  We LOVE when she joins our activities!

Weight:

We moved from measuring length to measuring weight.

I brought out our scale and Parker weighed various items while we worked through our math lessons.

Parker had plenty of practice using the scale and reading the weights in grams.

We continued adding to our math notebook.  We wrote and colored in various abbreviations and conversions.

SCIENCE:

I created another science worksheet to go with this week’s “Touchy Feely Guessing Game” science experiment.

The boys took turns reaching in to the paper bags and guessing each item.

This was another easy and fun way to bring our science reading to life.

Apple Tasting Tree:

The kids continued to add apples to our Apple Testing Tree.  You can grab your FREE apples here at our TPT store.

We’ll continue to sample and color our apples until Christmastime.

Ellie and the Falling Leaves:

This is a fun little update on our shelter kitty we adopted back in August.

She’s really adjusting to her new home.  She loves exploring during the day, hunting in the evening, and returning home to crash.  We just love seeing how LOVE can heal this little kitty.
