Sonlight Level D (Week 20)

We had a short week due to the Presidents’ Day. We tried to add a few fun elements along the way!

BIBLE:

Memory Verse:

I created a Bible verse printable for Proverbs 16:7

You can download your FREE copy here at our TPT Store.

The boys traced and illustrated their Bible verse on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, I cut apart their verses and the boys glued them together, like a puzzle, in their FIAR Notebook.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

The Thirteen States:

In an effort to strengthen our US geography, we take moments to locate our states.

While reading history, Parker used pompoms to mark the original thirteen states.

Chickasaw Tribe:

This week we learned about the Chickasaw tribe.

Parker used markers to map out the Chickasaw states. Along with other tribes, the Chickasaw people were forced out of their land.

Parker began reading chapters from The Trail of Tears.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

5th Grade:

This week, we reviewed Types of Sentences in his Grammar Ace notebook.

3rd Grade:

I created a Hot Cocoa themed pack for this week’s language arts activities.

You can purchase your copy here at our TPT Store.

Spelling:

I set out Parker’s spelling word cards, letter tiles, and spelling mat.

We started out spelling a silent e word.

Next, I added a suffix to his root word and he had to make the corrections.

Afterwards, Parker practiced writing his spelling words on his spelling word worksheet.

Word Equations:

We continued working in our word equation, just like last week’s post. Unfortunately, I didn’t snap pictures this week.

After doing our word equations, Parker completed his Hot Cocoa Word Equation worksheets.

Your or You’re:

We reviewed when to use “your”, showing possession, and “you’re”, substitution for “you are”.

Parker used his dot paint to complete his worksheet.

Reading:

I updated the reading shelf with an array of Valentines Day.

We read a few Valentine books this week.

Math:

Math Notebook:

Since Bub was learning about volume, we added the formula to his Area page in his math notebook.

Just For Fun:

Valentine’s Day:

We had a fun Valentines Day. We started out with a cinnamon roll breakfast, our online church service, a day of sweet treats and fun!
