Sonlight Level F (Week 1)

BACK TO SCHOOL:

We started a group unit study in the beginning of August, but we waited to begin our Sonlight studies until this week. Our school moved MAP testing to this week also. Needless to say, it was a crazy, busy week!

I set out our back to school table-scape the night before. Everyone woke up early and were excited to see their friends on campus! We were off to a jumping start!

BIBLE:

Memory Verse:

I created a Bible verse printable for Psalm 91:1-16.

You can download your FREE copy here at our TPT Store!

Parker traced his Bible verse, practiced it all week, and recited it on Thursday.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

China:

This year, I chose to use some picture books that align with our Eastern Hemisphere social studies.

We’re currently studying Paper Lanterns by Stefan Czernecki.

This week, Parker located China on the world map and noted the distance between the U.S. and China. He also created his notebook cover page and began adding key details we learned during history.

SCIENCE:

Taking Temperature Readings:

This week we learned about warm-blooded and cold-blooded mammals. We also learned that while our body regulates our temperature, certain stimuli can affect our temperature.

We took a temperature reading, did some exercises and took it again.

Cell Cake:

Since we were learning about cells, I thought it would be fun to make a cell cake.

After cooling our vanilla cake, we frosted it blue and Parker used various candies to construct his cell cake.

Needless to say, this science lesson was thoroughly enjoyed!
