Memory Verse:

Jordan memorized Proverbs 23:17 for this week. He recorded it in his FIAR notebook.

Character Study:

We continued to read through our chapter lessons in the FIAR Bible and Character Supplement.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

History – Christopher Columbus:

Bub recently read all about Christopher Columbus in the Who Was Christopher Columbus? book.

Life Skills:

Avoiding a Vain Attitude:

This is another wonderful subject. It’s important not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to. There’s gems to be found, on this subject, from the In Grandma’s Attic treasury.

Listening to Your Conscience:

Jimminy Cricket’s “Let Your Conscience be Your Guide” always comes to mind when talking about this subject.

I added a few clips of Jimminy Cricket singing and talking to Pinocchio about the conscience.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Question:

Jordan answered his discussion question in his FIAR notebook.

Vocabulary:

Jordan completed his vocabulary worksheet for this chapter.

SCIENCE:

Odors and Your Olfactory Sense:

I remember visiting the Space and Science museum and watching the big animatronics nose sneeze and breathe. .Funny how those memories stay with you through your learning journey.

Jordan read all about the human nose and this sense of smell in The Usborne Book of Knowledge.

Static Electricity:

Recently, Jordan read quite a bit about electricity in The Usborne Science Encyclopedia.

Afterwards, he felt inspired to create a solenoid.

Of course, he brought out a balloon and conducted the classic static electricity experiment.
