FIAR Bible Supplement:

Parker read both the scripture and the lesson material for this chapter, from the FIAR Bible Supplement Guide.

Bible Verse:

Parker wrote and memorized Matthew 7:12 as his Bible verse for this chapter.

History – World War II:

Parker read Usborne See Inside the Second World War book.

Writing & Discussion Question:

Parker responded to the writing and discussion question in his FIAR Notebook.

Read-Aloud:

We’re reading aloud Mary Emma & Company  as time permits. This particular book is Parker’s favorite. Let’s face it Moody is a great storyteller.

SCIENCE:

Autumn Science:

We were surrounded by the beauty of Autumn – falling leaves and cold, crisp weather – I thought it would be special to wrap up our last Helen Keller row with a fall science unit.

Falling Leaves:

First, Parker read In November then Fall Walk.

Afterwards, he read about trees and leaves in Autumn from our Slow Down book.

Cranberries:

Next, I thought it would be fun to study cranberries.

Cranberry Thanksgiving is one of our favorite books to row. Just the mention of Grandmother, Maggie and Mr. Whisker brings a smile to our faces.

First, Parker read How Foods Grow Cranberries on our EPIC app.

Next, he read Time for Cranberries. This is our absolute favorite cranberry book. It’s filled with scientific facts woven into a wonderful storyline.

ACTIVITIES & OTHER FUN STUFF:

Thanksgiving Unit:

We read How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World as well as our favorite Amelia Bedelia’s First Apple Pie.

We wrapped up our last chapter and enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving which included making our own apple pie.

Thanksgiving is such a beautiful time of the year. It will always remind me of my dad. He never stopped counting his blessings.
