BIBLE:

I created a Matthew 7:7 Bible Verse Tracer for Parker to work on this week.

This was a short week for us since we had President’s Day off.  On Tuesday, Parker listened to his Bible verse while tracing and illustrating it.

The following day we cut it apart and he glued it into his lapbook like a puzzle.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Around the World with Kate & Mack:

We continued lapbooking around the world with Kate and Mack.  This week we were learning about the Guatemala.

The boys located Guatemala on the world map and colored the flag.

They added the flag to their lapbooks along with some sketches from the days reading.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

I Can Read It!

This week we were learning about words long vowel words with silent e‘s.  I created a Lovin’ the Rain worksheet for Parker to work on

On Tuesday he completed the first worksheet using his dot paints.

On Wednesday, he completed the second worksheet as he read and colored the remaining words for this week’s lesson.

Magic e:

I made some Magic e worksheets for Bub when he was in first grade and thought Parker might enjoy them too.

You can download your FREE copy here at our TPT Store.  The only prep needed is writing e‘s  with a non-washable white crayon ahead of time.

Parker read and painted the picture only to find the magic e appear right before his eyes.  He was SUPER excited and really enjoyed this activity!

We followed up with a second magic e worksheet the next day.

ABC Order:

This week I had both boys work on alphabetical Order.  I created a Lovin’ the Rain Worksheet for Parker.

Parker only had six words to put in order, but he did a great job!  I also created an Alphabetical order worksheet for Bub to go along with his FIAR book, Follow the Drinking Gourd.

I gave Bub ten words to work and many started with the same letter, but he worked through the stack quite well.

The Year of the Baby:

The Year of the Baby is a new book for us.  It wasn’t part of the Sonlight Core B curriculum when Haley and Jordan were in the first grade.  Everyone has enjoyed listening to the chapters read-aloud.

We made our own sock mouse after reading about baby Kaylee’s mouse.

Reading:

Parker continued working through his readers as well as some fun picture books!

SCIENCE:

We read about reflections in our Science Activities book.  We decided to make our own unbreakable mirror.

We gathered our supplies and headed to the kitchen table.

We cut out our plastic piece first then traced it on the cardboard.

We wrapped the foil, placed the plastic on top, and taped the sides.

Then we went around the house looking for our reflection in various surfaces.  We concluded that it was easiest to see our reflection on shiny surfaces and on dark glass surfaces.
