Second Grade – Kindergarten – Preschool

SOCIAL STUDIES – Intro to World History II (Core C):

This fall, Haley will enter second grade, Jordan will be starting Kindergarten and Parker will begin preschool. We decided to homeschool Haley and Jordan together using the Sonlight Core C package. Since this is the first year homeschooling them together, we’ll take it week by week adjusting to varied attention spans. Near the end of last year, Haley participated in many of Jordan’s learning activities while he listened to Haley’s Core B read-alouds. This curriculum includes Bible, Social Studies, Language Arts and Science. We’re really excited to have all the kids homeschooling together.

BEFORE FIVE IN A ROW (BFIAR) – Preschool Curriculum:

We plan to use the BFIAR curriculum throughout Parker’s preschool education. It’s such a beautiful program and I hope that the older kids join in on the fun lessons and activities.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Reading:

Haley will use the Core C language arts for spelling and grammar lessons.

Jordan will use the Core A language arts for spelling and grammar lessons.

Handwriting without Tears:

In addition to the grammar components of the Core C program, Haley will be using HWOT (Handwriting without Tears) Level 2.

Jordan will be using the HWOT (Handwriting without Tears) Level K.

Math:

Horizon Math:

Haley will be using Horizon Math for second grade and Jordan will be using Horizon Math for Kindergarten.

SCIENCE:

Haley and Jordan will be using Sonlight’s second grade science program included in the Core C pack.
