SATURDAY SEVEN
BIBLE:
Memory Verse:

Jordan memorized Psalm 103:5 for this chapter. He copied it in his FIAR notebook.
Character Study:

We continued to read through our chapter lessons in the FIAR Bible and Character Supplement.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
Geography – Venice, Italy:

Jordan read This is Venice by M Sasek.

Afterwards, he color-coded all the locations mentioned in the storyline.
History – 1920s:
I added a “Roaring Twenties” clip to our Thomas Edison playlist.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
Writing & Discussion Question:

Jordan answered his discussion question in his FIAR notebook.
Vocabulary:

Bub completed his chapter seven vocabulary worksheet.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s “Song of Haiwatha”:

Jordan actually used Hiawatha as his copywork text during his 5th American Studies year.
SCIENCE:
How Your Body Keeps Cool:

Jordan read about sweat and cooling off our bodies in National Geographic Kids Ultimate Body-Pedia.
Bird Songs:

Bub read through the Western Backyard birds section of National Geographic Kids Bird Guides of North America.
We also listened to some bird calls online. I later added some bay area backyard bird calls to our playlist.

We love to capture the birds that visit our backyard.
Heat and Absorption:

Jordan read about endothermic reactions and how they give off heat. He conducted a simple baking soda and vinegar experiment to test his theory.
