Thomas A. Edison: Young Inventor (Ch 10)

TOM’S FIRST TELEGRAPH

BIBLE:

Memory Verse:

Jordan memorized 2 Samuel 22:2 for this chapter. He copied it in his FIAR notebook.

Character Study:

We continued to read through our chapter lessons in the FIAR Bible and Character Supplement.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

History – Samuel Morse and the Telegraph:

Jordan read about Samuel Morse Hooray For Inventors.

Afterwards, he brought out his Arduino Starter Kit to create a working telegraph using Morse Code.

History – Marconi and Wireless Communication:

He also read about Marconi in Hooray For Inventors.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Question:

Jordan answered the discussion question in his FIAR notebook.

FINE ARTS:

Drama and Memory Replacement:

Jordan has always had an empathetic heart. He’s deeply moved by tragedies. He has an innate ability to put himself in other peoples’ shoes. I can see the Lord using this character trait. The Twin Towers terrorist attack is one of those tragedies.

We actually visited a memorial in the Wine Country while visiting family one year. He was heavy seeing all the names recorded on the memorial. He chose to act out this moment in history.
