BIBLE:

Memory Verse:

Jordan memorized Joshua 6:27 for this chapter. He copied it in his FIAR notebook. 

Character Study:

We continued to read through our chapter lessons in the FIAR Bible and Character Supplement.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

History – Canada: The Provinces & Territories:

Jordan read Rookie Read-About Geography Canada and Carson Crosses Canada.

Afterwards, he color-coded Canada’s Provinces and Territories.

History – The Underground Railroad:

First, Jordan read The Patchwork Path A Quilt Map to Freedom, a story about the Underground Railroad.

Afterwards, he read If You Were a Kid During the Civil War.

Lastly, Bub read So Tall Within Sojourner Truth’s Long Walk Toward Freedom. Just this week, our church’s Kingdom Woman‘s Study featured a lesson about Sojourner Truth. I absolutely love when the Lord weaves things together like that.

History – The President Before Lincoln (Buchanan):

Bub is a true patriot at heart. He loves reading about our presidents as well as certain events in our nation’s history. First, he read through our Presidents of the United States book that he bought from our public library YEARS ago….a little nostalgia.

Next, he read a little more about President Buchanan in our Everything You Need to Ace American History In One Big Fat Notebook.

Life Skills – Organizing Your Personal Study:

Currently, Bub has a study area carved out on our dining room table; however, we are planning to renovate the boys’ room so they have more usable space for their computer and school work.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Creative Writing:

Bub doesn’t love writing, but he’s actually quite good with small write-ups. He does have a witty take on many subjects he’s interested in. This year, we bought Black Bird & Company’s language arts program. Each week he has a creative writing prompt which kept him on-point while providing a little wiggle room to make it his own.
