BIBLE:

Memory Verse:

Jordan memorized Hebrews 6:10 for this chapter. He copied it in his FIAR notebook. 

Character Study:

We continued to read through our chapter lessons in the FIAR Bible and Character Supplement.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

History – Steam Locomotives (Wood, Coal & Oil):

First, Jordan reviewed the evolution of trains in The Usborne Book of Knowledge.

Life Skills – Being Helpful:

Bub is a passionate kid that lives each day with a “go big or go home” swagger. It’s not always the easiest personality to parent, but I can always count on him to help me.

Whether I need him to help me stir a sauce, bring down a laundry hamper or make me an ever-needed cup of coffee, he’s on it. God gave him a BIG heart to go along with his BIG personality. It thrills me to see his helpfulness.

Life Skills – Observation and Opportunities:

Bub is extremely observant. He has an eye for details too. He has an impeccable work ethic when he cares about the subject matter.

Your First Job:

Jordan is a really strong kid. He has always asked if we would hire him for big jobs to earn extra money. He’s stained fences, raked mulch, cleaned gutters and pulled heavily weeded areas. As he’s been reliable in small projects, he’s been “hired” for bigger ones.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Question:

Jordan answered the discussion question in his FIAR notebook.

Similes & Metaphors:

Though he knows both similes and metaphors, I had Jordan read Stubborn as a Mule for a quick review.

I printed our Summer Similes worksheet for Bub to fill out. After circling the summer words, I asked him to write both a simile and a metaphor.
