We the FIAR Bible lessons for this Chapter – the story of the prodigal son.

Bible Verse:

We chose to memorize Luke 15:20 as our Bible verse for this chapter.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Geography – Prairie Notebook:

First, Parker read About Habitats Grasslands on our EPIC app.

Then he watched a National Geographic Imagine American Prairie video on our Sarah, Plain and Tall playlist.

Afterwards, he added fauna and flora sketches in his prairie notebook.

Geography – Ocean Notebook:

He added a seagull, moon snail and sea stone in his FIAR ocean notebook.

Life Skills – Wanting to be Liked:

We all want to be “liked” and seek people’s approval as we struggle to find our “place in this world”. We often talk, as a family, about being the people God made us to be rather than trying to win people’s approval.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Question:

Parker answered the discussion question in his FIAR notebook.

Creative Writing – A Dog’s Life:

Parker used this creative writing prompt in his Operation Lexicon workbook. He told a micro story through the eyes of a tortoise. I love that we were able to combine our Beyond FIAR and BB&C curriculum for this activity.

Read-Aloud:

As suggested in the manual, we started reading The Tale of Despereaux. This is a story told through the eyes of an animal. Parker LOVES it!

Vocabulary Words:

Parker completed the vocabulary worksheet for this chapter.

SCIENCE:

Windbreaks:

First, Parker read Feel the Wind.

He watched a wind break clip from our Sarah, Plain and Tall playlist.

He sketched a windbreak in his prairie notebook.

Smooth Sea Stones:

Parker read How Do Water and Wind Change Rock? On our EPIC app.

Afterwards, he watched a quick clip about rock tumblers on our Sarah, Plain and Tall playlist.

Hawks:

Parker read Amazing Animals Hawks on our EPIC app.

Afterwards, he completed the Grassland (Prairie) Animal Report worksheet.
