Afterwards, he completed a bird report, using the worksheet from our Grab Bag. He chose to research the scarlett macaw.

Parker also read What’s Inside a Bird’s Nest.

Afterwards, he color-coded a bird anatomy worksheet we downloaded for free on Rachel Ignotofsky’s website.

Genealogy:

On the days we didn’t have a science unit, Parker continued reading from the National Geographic Kids Guide to Genealogy book.

FINE ARTS:

Finger Painting – Being Messy Creatively:

I set out a large piece of heavy-weight white paper and our Crayola kid paints.

Parker hates finger paints, because he hates messy things. I told him to do this art assignment then he could wash up afterwards. It’s always good to encourage our kids to do things outside their comfort zone.

He actually surprised himself how much he enjoyed this activity. There is something wonderful and freeing about an activity that you’re encouraged to be messy and playful with.
