CHAPTER 12

BIBLE:

FIAR Bible Supplement:

Parker read both the scripture and lesson material for this chapter, using the FIAR Bible Supplement Guide.

On other days, he continued reading and studying Bible lessons with his Power of Words book.

Bible Verse:

Parker wrote and memorized 2 Timothy 2:9-10 as his Bible verse for this chapter.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Question:

Parker responded to the writing and discussion question in his FIAR Notebook.

Vocabulary:

Parker completed the worksheet for the Chapter 11 and 12 vocabulary words from our Skylark Grab Bag.

Additional Reading:

Parker is reading Painting the Game. This is his favorite Patricia MacLachlan story. He’s also reading Strawberry Girl too. As we have spare time, Parker and I will read Mary Emma & Company  together.

FINE ARTS:

Special Occasions – Setting up a Moonlight Tea:

I made a batch of pumpkin spice muffins that had too much leavening. As a result, they deflated. They weren’t pretty, but they tasted delicious. They were perfect for our tea party. Iced them with a touch of cream cheese frosting and fall sprinkles.

It was a bit brisk so Parks asked to have our tea party inside. I set it up near the door, under the playroom Christmas tree. We opened the sliding door so that the moon could join us. Nothing screams, “fall” in our home like pumpkin spice and Christmas trees….my father named me, “Christmas child”, so naturally we start early. ❤️

SCIENCE:

Water Safety:

Parker read about lighthouses in Julia Rothman’s Ocean Anatomy.

Parker also read Beacons of Light Lighthouses by Gail Gibbons.

Afterwards, Parker completed lighthouse worksheets from our Skylark Grab Bag.

Loon – An Interesting Bird:

First, Parker read Loon by Susan Vande Griek on our EPIC app.

Afterwards, he completed the Sea Bird Creature Report. From our Skylark Grab Bag.

ACTIVITIES & OTHER FUN STUFF:

Apple Tasting Tree:

Parker colored a Sugar Bee apple variety for our tasting tree.

Afterwards, he added it to our apple tasting tree. This is our last Apple Tasting Tree.

Chapter Book GRAB BAG:

I started creating a GRAB BAG for the Skylark Chapter Book Unit. The Grab Bag series is a collection of worksheets and/or activities that I create while studying the FIAR Chapter Book units with my children. I will post it as soon as it’s available for purchase.
