Parker read both the scripture and the lesson material for this chapter, from the FIAR Bible Supplement Guide.

Bible Verse:

Parker wrote and memorized Exodus 4:12 as his Bible verse for this chapter.

SOCIAL STUDIES:
History – Robert Fulton and Steamboats:

I really wanted to get a copy of Watt Got You Started Mr. Fulton? by Robert A. Quackenbush, but I couldn’t find a copy.

Parker read about Fulton and his steamboat in our The Industrial Revolution book.

History & Geography – Plymouth Rock:

Since we were in November, so it seemed like the perfect time to explore the first Thanksgiving.

First, Parker read If You Were a Kid in the Thirteen Colonies.

Next, Parker read History of America Pilgrims on our EPIC app.

He also watched one of our favorite Schoolhouse Rock videos from our Helen Keller playlist.

We continued our Thanksgiving unit by reading Squanto and the First Thanksgiving. This story inspired me to create “The Three Sisters” science unit.

Parker read Grow with Me Bean, Grow with Me Corn and See it Grow Pumpkin on our EPIC app.

Afterwards, Parker completed the Bountiful Botany worksheets.

History – Anne Sullivan’s Life:

I wanted Parker to read about Anne Sullivan, but I didn’t have a book on hand.

I added a Anne Sullivan biography clip to our Helen Keller playlist.

Career Path – Speech Therapist:

Finding a book about careers as a speech therapist wasn’t easy, but I managed to find one in our kindle unlimited library.

Parker read That’s My SLP! on Kindle.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Question:

Parker responded to the writing and discussion question in his FIAR Notebook.

Read-Aloud:

We’re reading aloud Mary Emma & Company  as time permits. This particular book is Parker’s favorite. Let’s face it Moody is a great storyteller.

ACTIVITIES & OTHER FUN STUFF:

Thanksgiving Tree:

Parker has already filled out 14 days of Thanksgiving leaves. I can’t believe we’re so close to the holidays!

Though we may still add more apples, the Thanksgiving leaves are filling up our tree!
