Parker read both the scripture and the lesson material for this chapter, from the FIAR Bible Supplement Guide.

Parker wrote and memorized Romans 8:28 as his Bible verse for this chapter.

History & Geography – Italy:

Parker read about Italy in our Book of Nations.

Afterwards, he completed a report about the country of Italy using the template from our Grab Bag.

History – Mythology Orpheus:

I added Ted Ed’s “The Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice” to our playlist.

Writing & Discussion Question:

Parker answered this chapter’s writing and discussion question in his FIAR notebook.

Poetry Copywork:

Twas the Night Before Christmas:

I thought it would be fun to memorize Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Parker read Twas the Night Before Christmas by Tomie dePaola.

Then he wrote and illustrated the poem using the poetry template from our Grab Bag.

FINE ARTS:

Opera – It’s Not Boring:

I added this funny clip, because it seemed to exemplify that Opera is not boring. In fact, My daughter absolutely LOVED this clip! I also added a two-part “The Weird and Wonderful World of Opera” by the Kennedy Center Education Digital Learning.

ACTIVITIES & OTHER FUN STUFF:

Christmas in Italy:

We went shopping at a specialty market and found several different brands of Pandoro. We bought a large one to enjoy for our Christmas in Italy breakfast and a small one to have later on.

Parker enjoyed a yummy Italian Pandoro cake for breakfast.

We also read about Christmas celebrations in Jack Manning’s Christmas in Italy as well as more festive celebrations in How Kids Celebrate Christmas Around the World.
