Life Skills – Self-Sacrifice:

This subject is near and dear to all born-again believers. Christ died for all our sins – past, present and future. We experience true peace when we get saved. We know – beyond a shadow of a doubt – that our sins are forgiven. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross of calvary paid our debt.

Our kids grew up listening to Bible stories. Since they were able to sit and listen, my husband would animate the stories of the Bible. As their attention spans grew a bit, he would read Bible stories from The Beginner Bible. Later, they would attend Sunday School and learn so many lessons, tiny seeds planted in their hearts. Each one of our kids had a moment when they personally realized that they weren’t saved and wanted to accept Christ as their savior.

Parker came to that realization after watching The Jesus Revolution. He was so moved by the message of the movie, he approached my husband and I about his salvation. He said he wanted to know for sure that he was saved, his sins were forgiven and he was going to Heaven. That night he prayed with us to accept Christ as his personal savior.

Life Skills – The Power of Education:

We take education very seriously in our family. My husband and I always planned on putting our kids in the same Christian Academy we attended until God showed us otherwise. Once I was certain that God called me to teach my kids, I poured my heart and soul into their education. I tried to fill each day with special moments that helped make our homeschooling journey memorable.

We made so many fun memories during our homeschool journey. It’s seems like yesterday. Now they’re teenagers in 8th grade, 10th grade and 12th grade. As they grow, we continue to encourage our kids to do their best in high school then work towards their bachelors degree in college.
