BIBLE:
FIAR Bible Supplement:
Parker read both the scripture and the lesson material for this chapter, from the FIAR Bible Supplement Guide.
Bible Verse:
Parker wrote and memorized Genesis 2:18 as his Bible verse for this chapter.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
Life Skills – Egotism – Learning to Value Other Opinions:
Parker read an electronic copy of King Hugo’s Huge Ego on the Internet Archive. We really hurt ourselves when we don’t listen nor consider other peoples’ opinions. It’s important to be humble and be able to collaborate with others.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
Writing & Discussion Question:
Parker answered this chapter’s writing and discussion question in his FIAR notebook.
Vocabulary:
Parker completed the vocabulary worksheet from our Grab Bag. This worksheet included words from Chapter 6 and 7.
SCIENCE:
Magnets:
Parker read Magnet: How William Gilbert Discovered That Earth is a Great Magnet.
Afterwards, he completed a magnetic activity using the worksheet from our Grab Bag.
Crystals:
First, Parker read Rocks & Minerals Crystals on our EPIC app.
Afterwards, we followed the instructions in the FIAR Manual to create the Floating “Iceberg” Crystals.
We wrapped our jar with an old towel and left it on the top shelf for a while. The following week, we brought it down to check out the results.
Lastly, the subject of “crystals” reminded me of our time rowing Snowflake Bentley. So to add another FIAR book to our list, Parker read Snowflake Bentley.

Chapter Book GRAB BAG:
I started creating a GRAB BAG for Marie Curie and the Discovery of Radium Chapter Book Unit. The Grab Bag series is a collection of worksheets and/or activities that I create while studying the FIAR Chapter Book units with my children. I will post it as soon as it’s available for purchase.
