Fifth Grade – Third Grade – First Grade

SOCIAL STUDIES – Eastern Hemisphere (Core F):

This fall, Haley will be a fifth grader, Jordan will be in third grade and Parker will enter first grade. Haley will be using the Sonlight Core F package. Each year, we learn a little more on our learning journey. Haley flourished in her independent studies, going at her own speed and reading through all the material herself. Swithing Jordan to the FIAR (Five in a Row) curriculum was a game changer. In fact, everyone enjoyed listening to the books he studied.

FIVE IN A ROW (FIAR) Curriculum:

Last year, we had a blast studying all the books in level 1. We made so many wonderful memories together. This year, we will continue our FIAR lessons with level 2. FIAR has really enriched our homeschool journey.

SOCIAL STUDIES – Intro to World History I (Level B):

Parker will be using the Sonlight Intro to World History (Level B) program. We ordered the updated version since Sonlight made a few changes since we used it with Haley.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Reading:

Haley will use the Core F readers and language arts for spelling and grammar lessons.

Jordan will use the third grade readers and language arts 3 package for spelling and grammar lessons.

Parker will use the first grade readers and language arts 1 package for spelling and grammar lessons.

Handwriting without Tears:

Haley will complete her cursive handwriting lessons with HWOT (Handwriting without Tears) book 5.

Jordan will begin his cursive program using the HWOT (Handwriting without Tears) Cursive Handwriting Level 3 book.

Parker will be using the HWOT (Handwriting without Tears) Level 1 book.

Math:

Horizon Math:

Last year, we decided to try the Saxon Math program. It didn’t not work for our family. This year, we decided to use the Singapore Math program.

Haley will be using the Primary mathematics 5 books.

Jordan will be using the Primary Mathematics 3 books.

Parker will using the Primary Mathematics 1 books.

SCIENCE:

Haley will be using Sonlight’s fifth grade science program included in the Core F pack.

Parker will be using Sonlight’s first grade science program included in the Level B pack. Jordan joined Parker in many science activities last year, so we will use the FIAR science lessons as Jordan’s secondary science curriculum.
