Since this chapter was all about Tom’s newspaper, I had Jordan read Deadline From News to Newspaper..

Career Path – Journalist:

My husband Randy is a fantastic writer. He would be a wonderful sports writer, with his knowledge of the game and witty sense of humor. He used to write a weekly blurb for his Fantasy Football League. Some of Jordan’s pieces show inflections of his dad’s writing style.

Life Skills – Speaking Words of Praise:

Even as parents, we can get caught up in the trenches of teaching and instructing our children that we forget to acknowledge and praise good behavior. My friend, Heather, reminded me of this as we were raising our toddler boys together. After all, that is how the Lord deals with us as His children.

Life Skills – Being Brave:

Bub has always been pretty brave. He wouldn’t scare easily and often didn’t run from his fears. Here’s one of our favorite Bub stories.

As a toddler, he loved The Pirates of the Caribbean. He loved the ride at Disneyland and enjoyed playing the Infinity game. He LOVED Jack Sparrow, but he was scared of Davy Jones. What was the boy to do?

He wanted to overcome his fear. He chose to face it head on. He decided to dress up as Davy Jones. We made a felt beard and he carried his chest and overcame his fear.
