Parker completed the vocabulary worksheet for this chapter.

Book Recommendation:

The manual suggested reading Secret Garden to compliment this row.

We read the abridged edition of Secret Garden last year while rowing Grandpa Green. Parker really loved the story.

SCIENCE:

Genealogy:

Since we didn’t have any particular science units for this chapter, Parker continued reading the National Geographic Kids Guide to Genealogy book.

FINE ARTS:

Juice Paints and Vegetable Stains:

Parker read about various berries and making juice paint in Berries, Nuts and Seeds.

We went outside to collect flowers, berries and leaves.

We sketched each flower and leaf, wrote the name and Parker used the petals and leaves of each plant to color them in.

Next, we crushed the berries with water to make “berry watercolors” that Parker used to paint with.

Our project was both science and art. Parker did a beautiful job.

Parker perused through Dyes from Plants. It’s interesting to see the plants that produce each color. some we might have in our own yard.
