FIAR Bible Supplement:

Bible Verse:

For this chapter, Parker wrote and memorized Exodus 20:8.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
Life Skills – Acting in Determination:

Parker read about Determination by Lucia Raatma.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
Writing & Discussion Question:

Parker answered the discussion question in his FIAR notebook.
Vocabulary:

Parker completed the vocabulary worksheet for this chapter.
SCIENCE:
Genealogy:

Since we didn’t have any designated science units for this chapter, Parker continued reading from the National Geographic Kids Guide to Genealogy book.
FINE ARTS:
Choirs and Singing:
After reading through the Teacher’s Manual, I decided to make this unit include fine arts and science.

Parker read How You Talk by Paul Showers.
Just for fun, Parker watched The Creature Choir read-aloud on our playlist.
Cooking – Corn Dodgers:

We headed into the kitchen to prepare our corn dodgers.

Parker added the bacon to our skillet and we placed it into the oven to cook.

Parker measured, poured and mixed the ingredients together in our bowl. We omitted the green onions so we could create a sweet & salty dessert.

Our mixture was not “pourable”, but rather a crumbly shortbread-like texture. We patted it down and put it in the oven to bake.

It came out dry and cracked. We decided to pour milk & half and half over the top. You could hear it sizzle as it hit the bottom. We baked in 10 minutes linger at 350 degrees.

It was a bit more cake-like, but it was a nice treat smothered with homemade cream cheese frosting.
JUST FOR FUN:
Happy Pi Day:

Parker and I read Happy Pi Day to You!

We ordered one of our favorite pies – pizza pie!

And for dessert, we bought a cherry pie, warmed it in the oven and served it a-la-mode! What a tasty way to celebrate!
