FIAR Bible Supplement:

Parker read both the scripture and lesson material for this chapter, using the FIAR Bible Supplement Guide.

On other days, he continued reading and studying Bible lessons with his Power of Words book.

Bible Verse:

Parker wrote and memorized I Thessalonians 5:18 as his Bible verse for this chapter.

Parker read You Wouldn’t Want to Sail on an Irish Famine Ship! A Trip Across the Atlantic You’d Rather Not Make.

Afterwards, he color-coded the Parts of the Potato Plant worksheet from our Skylark Grab Bag and added it in his FIAR Notebook.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Question:

Parker responded to the writing and discussion question in his FIAR Notebook.

Vocabulary:

Parker completed the Vocabulary worksheet from our Skylark Grab Bag and added it in his FIAR Notebook.

Read-Aloud:

We’re waiting to start our next read-aloud book, Mary Emma & Company. As the kids get older, It’s not as easy to weave in read-aloud time. Parker works through his core lessons independently, but we utilize whatever free time we have.

SCIENCE:

Moving in the Heat – Heat Exhaustion:

Parker read Disaster Zone Heat Waves on our Epic app.

FINE ARTS:

The Colors of Drought:

Patricia MacLachlan’s description says, “…as far as I could see the fields were brown…There was no green.”

Using his mind’s eye as I read Patricia’s words, he painted his idea of “…There was no green.”

Ironically, his blue sky and yellow fields, together make green.

Chapter Book GRAB BAG:
