FIAR Bible Supplement:

Parker read both the scripture and lesson material for this chapter, using the FIAR Bible Supplement Guide.

On other days, he continued reading and studying Bible lessons with his Power of Words book.

Bible Verse:

Parker wrote and memorized Exodus 3:5 as his Bible verse for this chapter.

History- The Great Chicago Fire:

Parker read Surviving the Great Chicago Fire on our EPIC app.

Afterwards, he researched our state’s historical records for disaster-level floods and recorded them in his FIAR notebook.

Geography – Areas Where Fire is a Constant Risk:

Parker read Fighting Fires on our EPIC app.

To get more acquainted with state locations, Parker completed our U.S. States puzzle.

Afterwards, he color-coded the fire prone states.

Career Path – Firefighters:

Parker read National Geographic Kids Wildfires on our EPIC app.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Question:

Parker responded to the writing and discussion question in his FIAR Notebook.

Read-Aloud:

Mary Emma & Company is our current read-aloud. We read books together when we have free moments in our middle school schedule. We’ve enjoyed read-aloud time over the years homeschooling.

SCIENCE:

The Chemical and Scientific Background of Fires:

Parker read Fire! Fire! by Gail Gibbons.

Parker completed the Emergency Symbol Match worksheet from our Skylark Grab Bag.

OTHER FUN STUFF:

Fall Party:

Haley and I got ready for the fall season. We took down our Americana decorations and put up our autumn decorations and fall village.

Chapter Book GRAB BAG:

I started creating a GRAB BAG for the Skylark Chapter Book Unit. The Grab Bag series is a collection of worksheets and/or activities that I create while studying the FIAR Chapter Book units with my children. I will post it as soon as it’s available for purchase.
