Helen Keller (CH 4)

CHAPTER 4 – THE WORST FIGHT OF ALL

BIBLE:

FIAR Bible Supplement:

Parker read both the scripture and the lesson material for this chapter, from the FIAR Bible Supplement Guide.

Bible Verse:

Parker wrote and memorized Galatians 5:22-23 as his Bible verse for this chapter.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Question:

Parker responded to the writing and discussion question in his FIAR Notebook.

Writing a Persuasive Argument:

Parker read this section of the FIAR Teacher’s manual. It’s funny, because I remember that all three children had a persuasive argument writing assignment during their early elementary education. One wanted to get a pet cat, another wanted a pet turtle and the last was a specific toy.

Read-Aloud:

We’re reading aloud Mary Emma & Company  as time permits. This particular book is Parker’s favorite. Let’s face it Moody is a great storyteller.

SCIENCE:

How Good is Your Sense of Smell:

First, Parker read about the nose in our Smithsonian Body Book! and The Usborne Complete Book of the Human Body.

Afterwards, he read Follow Your Nose by Paul Showers.

Later, he conducted a Guess the Scent experiment using the “My Five Senses – Guess the Mystery Scent” worksheet from our Helen Keller Grab Bag.

Chapter Book GRAB BAG:

I started creating a GRAB BAG for the Helen Keller Chapter Book Unit. The Grab Bag series is a collection of worksheets and/or activities that I create while studying the FIAR Chapter Book units with my children. I will post it as soon as it’s available for purchase.
