Parker traced his Bible verse while listening to his Sing the Word track.
The following day he illustrated his verse using our story about Mt. Sinai.
Then we cut apart the Bible verse like a puzzle and glued it in his lapbook.
The Sin Problem:
This week we talked about how God loves us EVEN when we’re naughty. We were born with sin and we need a savior. Thank GOD for Jesus!
This seemed like a great opportunity for an object lesson. I drew a blank, white heart and started to paint it as we talked about the “naughty” (sinful) things that we do.
Then we talked about the “good things” we do (as I added gobs of white paint) is great, but it will never wipe away our sin. As they saw the paint bleed through the white paint, we visually saw we can’t clean up our own hearts.
Then I brought out bleach and food coloring tinted water. I thought it would be a GREAT way to demonstrate how Christ “removes” our sin.
NOTE: I think the ratio of bleach to tinted water wasn’t strong enough, but after several tries we FINALLY came close to clear. I ended with, “Well guys only Jesus can TRULLY wash away our sins!”
The Ten Commandments:
I added the Ten Commandment Boogie to our Sonlight Core B playlist.
The boys watched it over and over again at the breakfast table. They LOVED it!
They colored a Ten Commandments coloring page and added it to their lapbooks.
HISTORY:
We continued to lapbook our journey around the world with Kate and Mack.
The boys colored the flag and drew the Vanuatu pig.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
I Can Read It:
I created two worksheets for this week’s lesson.

Parker worked on his worksheet, rolling, reading, and dot-painting it.
ABC Order:
I created a first grade and third grade ABC Order worksheet for the boys to work on.

They did a great job placing the words in alphabetical order. Parker’s worksheet turned out SO colorful. We hung it up next to his other fall worksheets.
Homophones:
I created a Falling for Grammar – Homophone pack for the boys to work on.

You can purchase your copy here at our TPT Store.
The boys took turns matching the homophone cards.
Afterwards Parker colored his Pumpkin Homophone Match worksheet.
Humpty Word Building:
I created a Humpty Dumpty Build-a-Word activity for Jordan when he was in first grade.

You can download your FREE copy here at our TPT Store.
I printed a copy for Parker and he did a great job making and recording short ‘O’ words.
SCIENCE:
Animals of Europe:
I printed a laminated a set of Animals of Europe (Imagine Our Life) and brought out the coordinating Toob figures.
Magnets & Electricity:
We FINALLY started catching up on our science activities this week.
Parker and I made our solenoid and connected it to our battery terminal.
We tested it with the needle and it sucked it into the straw.
Next, we used our solenoid to make a train signal. This was SO cool! Happy homeschooling, see you next week!
