Parker listened to the track while tracing the Bible verse on Monday. On Tuesday, he illustrated it.
On Wednesday we cut apart his tracer like a puzzle and he glued it in his lapbook.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
Around the World with Kate & Mack:
We continued lapbooking around the world with Kate and Mack. This week we were learning about the heart language in Serbia.
The boys took turns locating Serbia on the globe and the placemat.
The boys colored the flag and sketched in their lapbooks.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
I Can Read It:
I created an I Can Read It! worksheet set for this week’s lesson.

You can download it for FREE here at our TPT Store.
Parker used his dot paints to color the worksheets on Monday and Tuesday.
Phonics – Build-a-Word:
I created a Mixed Pot of Gold Build-a-Word Worksheet for Parker to work on this week.

You can download it for FREE here at our TPT Store.
Compound Words:
I created a quick Rainbow Compound Word worksheet for Parker to complete.

SCIENCE:
Taste Test:
This was actually a carry over activity from last week. Haley was also learning about taste in her science lessons. I revised our 5 Senses – Taste worksheet for her science experiment this week.

You can download it for FREE here at our TPT Store.
First, we gathered our supplies and prepared to test our taste buds.
The idea was to figure out which area of the tongue tasted sweet, salty, bitter, etc.,
The boys tasted each item and colored their worksheet to note where they could best taste each.
What a fun way to end our science lessons on food!
Foods Around the World:
We wrapped up our science lessons about food with a fun “foods around the world” activity. I brought out some food samples and our world map fabric.
The boys worked through the stack of items and placed them on the matching country.
If they forgot where an item came from, they used their science book as reference.
Mirrors & Reflections:
This week’s Science Activities reading was about mirrors and reflections. We brought out our big mirror, big metal spoon, and did a few activities.
We used a half circle to see that the reflection appears to be a “whole” circle, becausee it’s showing us the reflection. We checked out the “concave” and “convex” reflections in our big spoon. Jordan worked on writing a “secret message” (writing backwards) and viewing it in the mirror. It’s ALWAYS fun to read and DO!
JUST FOR FUN:
Celebrating 100 Days of School:
I set out a 100th Day of School Hat printable (mykindergartenobsession) and picked Fancy Nancy The 100th Day of School book to read-aloud.
The kids worked on their hats while I read-aloud. Later in the afternoon we celebrated with a 100 Days of School Snack.
It’s become tradition to sort through a trail mix of 100 things – cereals, pretzels, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, fruit snacks, butterscotch chips, and M&Ms. I gave everyone a copy of The 100 Yummy Things sorting mat (justadabofgluewilldo). They sorted & snacked while I read our 100th day of school book!
Happy Pi Day:
In honor of Pi Day, we made dinner a circular event. We made home-made pizzas for dinner.
Everybody loved them! There’s nothing quite like making your dinner, right? The kiddos took care of dessert.
I peeled the apples and the kids took turns coring and slicing the apples.
They measured and mixed the ingredients for the crumble. Using their fingers to mix in the butter was their favorite part ;). Parks wanted NOTHING to do with that!
We baked them in the oven. It smelled like fall….mmmmm! They gobbled them up after watching a few Clone Wars episodes!
That’s all for week 27. We’re looking forward to week 28…another fun week of learning!
