Neil Armstrong: Young Flyer (Ch 6)

CAMPING OUT

BIBLE:

Memory Verse:

Jordan added Proverbs 17:1 as his Bible verse for this chapter.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Life Skills – Compromise:

Compromise is a learned lifeskill. We’ll never get our way all the time and we shouldn’t. We try to teach our kids to be unselfish, listen to others, and take turns. The best way to teach compromise is in the heat of the moment when no one wants to budge. We do our part and pray that the Lord will drive the lessons deep into their hearts.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Writing & Discussion Questions:

Jordan answered the discussion question in his FIAR notebook.

SCIENCE:

Constellations:

We studied constellations last year while rowing Betsy Ross. Just to review, I had Jordan read all about starts in The Fascinating Space Book for Kids.

Types of Campfires:

Since we were studying campfires, I brought out our Improve Your Survival Skills book. Truly, this book was made for boys like mine.

I also added several campfire clips to our Neil Armstrong playlist.

FINE ARTS:

Make Knots:

Since Jordan was reading about knots in this chapter, he brought out his knot kit and practiced a few. Just one more reason to love FIAR! They just know….

HELPFUL LINKS:

Chapter Book GRAB BAG:

I created a Grab Bag for the Neil Armstrong: Young Flyer Mini Unit. The Grab Bag series is a collection of worksheets and/or activities that I created while studying the FIAR Chapter Book units with my children.

You can purchase your copy HERE at our TPT Store.

*NOTE: Please be aware that any printable from the Grab Bag series may have worksheets that are similar and/or the same as those available in our other printables. We try to include anything that could enhance your student(s) learning experience as you row the chapter book series.

Pinterest Board:

You can find most of the activities, ideas, and printables from this post on our Neil Armstrong: Young Flyer Pinterest Board.

Youtube Playlist:

As with our other rows, we created Neil Armstrong: Young Flyer playlist with read-alouds, music, science, and other clips.
